Yoon Kim, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Montgomery County, PA

Hi! I'm Yoon Kim, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Lilac Therapy Center, LLC.  I work with children ages 10+ through adults.  I specifically enjoy working with children and teens and their families, as I view the family unit as a crucial part of an individual’s healing and growth.  Developing a safe and trusting relationship is vital to my work with clients, as is honoring the courage and strength it takes to make lasting changes.  My approach to therapy focuses on helping individuals find their inner voice and strength through motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral techniques.

I am a therapist for children, teens, adults, and families.

Throughout my career as a therapist, I have worked in a number of non-public and public school settings, supporting elementary-aged through middle school students around a variety of concerns and struggles.  I am particularly skilled in working with anxiety, strained family relationships, social and relationship difficulties, academic concerns, and self-esteem issues.  Most recently, I worked as an Interim Elementary School Counselor at the Korea International School in South Korea.  Being an Asian American, I am mindful of two cultures being in a graceful balance. I enjoy helping clients in exploring this delicate balance within their community/society/family.  Therapy can be an amazing tool that can help one thrive in their own unique way.  I also have a special interest in providing therapeutic groups for children and teens, presenting about mental health topics to parents and teachers, and collaborating with other professionals to create a more connected community and work to break the stigma surrounding mental health.
